HyBrit is now available for Mac users in both AU and VST formats. The beautiful new GUI has been again design by nervirasme, thanks Man. The new skin is also available for windows users.

Freeware amp sims on the latest sleepmakeswaves...

As annouced on different forums (GAM, UM and gearslutz), some of my plugins (along with other freewares) have been used in the production of the latest sleepmakeswaves album. New version of LeCto VST for Mac, Hybrit and SoloC Head for Windows are available. All of these sims had a gain difference between the two channels when used in stereo. I have also compiled versions of Hybrit and SoloC Head using SSE code for better performance.

LeCab2 (VST for Windows)

LeCab2 is the evolution of LeCab1. It's a cabinet (guitar or bass) impulse loader. LeCab2 offers :
- 6 impulse slots
- Latency control (down to 64 samples)
- Dropdown menu built with the .wav files contained in the directory where the last impulse is loaded
- Next and Prev buttons to navigate through the impulse directory
- Solo button for each slots
- Channel selection for each slots
- Possibility to link the loaded impulse of 2 slots (other controls stay independant)
- High Pass and Low Pass filters for each slots
- Phase, Delay, Pan and Volume controls for each slots

LeCab2 has been specifically design for relatively short impulse response such as guitar and bass cabinet. Too long impulse response are going to be truncated. Impulse troncation could lead to what's call frequency leakage and then produce atrifacts in the low and high part of the frequency spectrum as shown in the figure below where the blue line is the frequency response of a truncated impulse. This figure has been captured with Voxengo SPAN.

As can be seen, unless under extrem case, these artifacts can be eliminated with the low and high pass filters as provided by LeCab2 for each slots.

LeCto is a guitar amp simulator inspired by an american modern high gain head. This simulator has 2 channels with 3 modes on each channel. It can go from crunch (raw mode) to modern high gain (modern mode).

Features :
-oversampling : determines the signal oversampling; up to 8x
-mono/stereo : determines the signal routing
-input : controls the magnitude of the input signal
-drive : controls the amount of gain
-low : controls the low frequency
-mid : controls the mid frequency
-high : controls the high frequency
-presence : presence control
-resonance* : controls the amount of resonance resulting from the interaction with the speaker cabinet

*Only active on modern mode

LeCto is only an amp simulator, so you need to use a cabinet simulator.

Few testers have reported problems with some versions of Sonar. These bugs have not been solved yet.

LeGion

LeGion is a high gain preamp simulator. This is an original design, it's not based on any hardware gear. My goal here was to build a high gain sim that doesn't need any booster in front in order to be tight.

Features:
- 2 channels, actually two completely different preamp circuit

- 2 modes on each channel, rhythm and lead

- 2 tonestacks assignable to any of the 2 channels

- the usual drive and tone controls

LeXTAC

LeXTAC has been inspired by a great Californian boutique amplifier.

Features:
· Ch 1 (Clean/Yellow): gain, bass, middle, treble, contour, power amp gain volume, 3 positions pre eq, gain boost.

· Ch 2 & Ch 3 (Blue & Red): gain, bass, middle, treble, contour, power amp gain, volume, 3 positions pre eq, gain-structure, gain boost and plexi mode.

All channels have a 3 positions Pre EQ switch : Normal, Bright and Brighter. The higher you set the gain control, the less effect the Pre EQ will have on the sound. All channels also have a gain boost.

Channel 2 & 3 (Blue & Red) have two other switches to give the user different gain/tone :
· The Plexi channel is a lower gain channel than the normal Blue & Red ones. The plexi channel can be assigned to either Channel 2 or 3. Note: structure switch and Gain Boost switch are inactive in Plexi mode.

· The Structure switch is an overall gain reduction switch for Channels 2 & 3. When ON (high position), both channels 2 & 3 have less gain. Obviously, when OFF (down position), the preamp will more gain.

The beautiful GUI was design by requietus.

LE456

Here is my latest amp sim. It's a preamp sim roughly based on a famous German gear. It has 2 channels and 2 modes per channel. Each channels/modes share the same features. Apart from the usual tone controls (drive, low, mid, high and contour), each channels/modes offer two different tone stacks that can be accessed via the focus switches. Bottom and bright switches can be used to boost the low and the high frequencies respectively. On the low gain channel only (Clean/Crunch), the effectiveness of the bright switch decreases with the gain settings.

HyBrit Series

This is actually my very first VST project. At that time, I was looking for an amp that has been modeled a lot of time in order to have comparison points. I picked a classic British amp. After some comparisons with my original model, I decided that it was sounding good enough to be send to the testers... but not as is. After all there is a lot of British amp simulators out there. So I tweaked my original model and added another channel to it. It finally ends up as HyBrit.

As the name suggests, this is an hybrid amp model based on two famous British gears. Again, the name of the channel says it all. The PLS channel is actually an hybrid of the two (tweaked) channels (Normal and Treble) of the real thing. Both channels are actually processed and the mix of the two signals can be adjusted through the PLS MIX knob. The other channel, MCJ, is also a tweaked version of the real thing. So, this amp simulator doesn't represent anything specifically but it does have the character of the British amp.

As for SoloC, HyBrit comes in 3 versions : Preamp, Head and FullStack.

LeCab v1.0

LeCab v1.0 is simply the IR cab loader of SoloC FullStack with a stereo option.
Here how the stereo option works:
Indpendent Mode : The left signal is processed with Cabinet 1 and the right signal with Cabinet 2. You can position each of the resulting signals with the pan knobs.
Blend Mode : Both signals are processed with each Cabinet. The volume knobs of each cabinet are linked. This time you can position each of the resulting signals with the pan knobs.

It comes with different GUI : two made by me and one made by ThexBucket from GAM.

Just to let you know that a new SoloC will be out soon. I’ll probably release it in 3 versions:
- PreAmp (as the previous version but with another GUI),
- Head (same PreAmp with a PowerAmp model)
- FullStrack (Head plus two impulse loaders)

New features included:
-a quality switch to control the amount of oversampling and at the same time the CPU comsumption
-a mono/stereo switch
-settings saved by channels
-new way of channel/mode selection to allow automation and switching with an external controller
-a PowerAmp model

More specifically for the FullStack version:
a) two internal default IR cabs provided by Alu from GAM
b) for each IR loader
-a switch between internal default IR and external IR
-a mute and a phase inverter switches
-a delay of up to 5 ms
-HP and LP filters
-Pan
-Volume
-Automatic trim of the impulse to minimize phase issue
-Automatic normalisation to minimize volume difference between impulse
c)two modes for the impulse processing (independent and blend)
-independent : as it says, independent control of each IR
-blend : both IR are centered panned and the 2 volume knobs are linked ( rising 1 volume knob decreases the other one by the same value in order to keep the overall volume level)

The official release of the new SoloC is gonna be part of a mega release with the new DIG2.5 from my friends at AcmeBarGig as well as Cabinet IR files specially designed for SoloC from Catharsis Studios, and ReCabinet freeware IR's. Our friends at AcmeBarGig will also add some extra effects in the same package as well. This will launch the official re-opening of the AcmeBarGig website so visit them frequently.

Here is the first one. It's a tube preamp emulation. It has 3 channels clean/crunch/overdrive. It doesn't have power amp nor cabinet model so you need to add one somewhere down your signal chain.
